This is How Cyclists can use Driving Directions Google Maps

Driving directions Google Maps allows cyclists to easily find the best cycling routes and modify them according to their needs. Although driving directions Google Maps is known for providing the best routes to car drivers, it is now accommodating cyclists also. Now cyclists can also customize their routes and determine the most bike friendly route.

 

Back in October we ran a blog post regarding how cyclists could benefit from Google Maps so today we will be showing you how you can easily leverage driving directions Google Maps if you are a cyclist. Of course we all know how easy driving directions Google Maps is to use, so whether you are using this service from your desktop or your mobile phone, here’s how to make the most of it:

 

> Enter a destination in the search field

> Next, either enter your current location or allow Google to detect it for you using your mobile phone’s location service

> Now click the Directions button

> Select ‘Cycling’ as your mode of transportation from the icons given at the top of the screen

 

Driving directions Google Maps will now show you the best bike friendly route available along with marked alternate routes. If you want to select an alternate route (for whatever reason), you can do so by tapping or clicking on the alternate route. Each marked route generally indicates the estimated timing along with a comment regarding whether the route is hilly or flat.

 

Desktop users can easily send the cycling route directions to their phones by clicking on the phone icon given in the destination panel and get turn by turn driving directions on Google Maps. Cyclists should also be aware that:

 

> Bicycling routes are generally marked in dark green color on driving directions Google Maps and are not allowed for any motor vehicles

> Dedicated cycling lanes are marked in green on streets

> Cycling routes without dedicated lanes are marked with dashed light green lines and

> Dirt paths are marked with brown color on driving directions Google Maps
